Review of Meaningful Beauty (Cindy Crawford) 2013

I used this skin care line many years ago and it was fine. Expensive but fine. It didn’t irritate my sensitive skin and it felt hydrated. I stopped using it because of the cost. I was also in my early twenties so I wasn’t worried about wrinkles and fine lines at the time so I can’t tell you if it did anything for those.

Now, many years later, these infomercials are still going strong so I decided to do some research and see what other people think and see if I could find out if Cindy Crawford really uses this line. Before digging up any dirt, I assumed she either uses the “good” stuff (meaning the products with the key ingredients heavily increased) or she doesn’t use it all. I found a lot but I will keep my review short.

1. Most reviews of this line were negative. Highly negative. People wrote some nasty, unpleasant things. I have found that most will not take the time to do that unless they are mad. These women sounded mad! They talked about rashes, irritated skin, no results, problems with canceling membership, how expensive the products were and that they didn’t believe Cindy Crawford used the products.

2. On the infomercials (and website) they talk about this French “melon” that is the key ingredient to the line. Well, this ingredient is pretty far down on the list, which means it can’t be very effective. And, trying to find more information about this wonder melon was not easy. Makes me think that they just picked a fruit and decided that was what they would tell people was special.

3. These are considered over-the-counter (OTC) products and that means they will not have the effective ingredients as the active ingredients. Marketing and packaging is where the money is spent so you get less of the important stuff needed to treat and fix the skin. You will never convince me that you have to spend a fortune to have good skin. Using the right products for YOUR skin with the right ingredients is all you need.

4. Cindy may not use these products. Or, if she does, it isn’t all she does. She said, “Im not going to lie to myself. Past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox and collagen… I have a very simple, healthy life, which works miracles. I drink a lot of water, watch what I eat and exercise. But I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon.” Disappointing Cindy.

I think it’s important to know the truth.

Celebrities. They’re Just Like Us.

Celebrities have too much money. Being different and weird is cool (right?) and they don’t care how much it costs. I am not convinced that these bizarre beauty secrets are any better than what you and I can do…or at least what I can do for you. Check these out and let me know what you think.

1. Would you put bull semen on your hair? It is said that Catherine Zeta-Jones uses it because it is supposed to make your hair glossy, bouncy and moisturized. I’m going to pass on this one. That is disgusting and seems a bit unnecessary.

2. J. Lo (because that is what you have to call her when talking about this ridiculous facial) uses placenta face masks. It is taken from LIVE HUMAN BIRTHS or from other mammals. Gross. Supposedly it soothes the skin after exfoliation or laser treatments. You know what? A gel or seaweed mask (I use those) will also soothe the skin.

3. Jerry Hall, who to me has always seemed a little out there, is rumored to use Ceramic Crystal Therapy. I think this is my favorite one! They are injected into your face to make you look younger but the problem is, over time, your face changes and it loses volume therefore making the particles evident. Plus, there is a chance that your body will reject the crystals. I’m not seeing the upside.

4. What about getting blood injected to look more youthful…temporarily? Yep. It doesn’t even last that long but Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian do it anyway. Does this surprise you? Even doctors are saying that there are “easier, cheaper” ways to achieve a youthful glow.

Acne Scars

The first thing you should know is that acne scars will probably never completely go away. Minimizing acne scars is possible though but it is not easy and depending on how deep they are, it may not be cheap. But for some, it doesn’t matter how much it costs, having skin free of scars is all they want. So I have created a list of options. Some are better than others, some are more expensive than others and some have better results. Please remember that the time it can take to get rid of these often depends on the depth of these scars. Here is the breakdown…

1. Professional Products– This is the easiest and least expensive way to try and minimize the scars. Using products with retinol and glycolic acid can help diminish superficial scars over a period of time. If you include these products in with #2 or #3, your results would be even better! (products pictured can be purchased from me)

2. Chemical Peels– Doing a series is best and there is some downtime with these. but usually only a few days (at most) and not always after every peel. There are a lot of determining factors on how long this takes and what exactly it will entail.

3. Microdermabrasion/Dermafiles– This is also best done in a series. Minimal downtime, if any. Sometimes, depending on the age and scars, you might be able to mix this procedure in with the chemical peels.

4. Laser– This is the most expensive way to diminish the scars because it is used to remove layers of damaged skin surface. Recovery is from 10-21 days.
